Our hearts are saddened by the sudden loss of Robert Clayton Roddy, Sr., born March 17,1940 to George and Mildred (Clarke) Roddy. He passed away on November 24, 2020 after living a full and wonderful life for 80 years. Born in Dallas,Texas he married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Wanda Faye Powers. For 62+ years he lovingly called her his "girlfriend" and always considered her his best friend. Together they shared a sweet love for each other and their family, a beautiful testimony to true love. His successful career of 35 years with J. C. Penney Company began in Dallas and moved his family to different parts of the country, Minnesota, California, Oregon, Georgia, Kansas City, eventually landing Bob and Wanda back in Dallas where they enjoyed retirement for more than 20 years. His hobbies included a good round of competitive golf or playing tennis, reading, especially anything relating to history and he was an avid movie fan. He was talented at playing the organ (at a high volume in the early hours of the morning to the delight of his family at family reunions) and had a tremendous soft spot for his beloved dogs throughout his life. A lifelong learner, he had developed a new title "Chef Pepa" and loved to try new recipes. He loved ice cream and cookies but his true passion was his family, he spent much of his time planning and going on trips to see his extensive family spread across the country, always ending the trip talking about the next family get together.
Bob, Daddy, Pepa, Peeps will be lovingly remembered by his wife Wanda (Mema); his four children, Debbie (Brent) Wise, Carrie (Scott) Bodin, Millie Weston, Bobby (Teri) Roddy; his nine grandchildren who he cherished, Roddy Bodin, Matt (Andi) Wise, Callie (Tony) Apollo, Dustin (Steph) Wise, Max (Ashley) Weston, Zack Roddy, Megan (Blake) Rosholt, Mitch Wise and Mick Weston; and his pride and joy; his six great grandchildren, Mac (3 yrs.), Sidonie (19 months), Jackson & Gentry (17 months), Asher (13 months), Milana (3 months) and any day now another baby girl for number seven; his sister Fredene (Don) Hays, their daughter Donna Hays and his many cherished friends.
