Romulo “Ron” Mendez Delgado, age 86, passed away peacefully at home in Grand Prairie, on September 13, 2020, with his son by his side . Ron was born in Raymondville, TX on January 21st, 1934, to the late Eva Mendez and Romulo Garcia Delgado. Ron proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Radio Operator, stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict, earning various medals during his tour of duty . As a young man, and prior to joining the Air Force, Ron worked for his father as a field-hand, tending to the local crops. After the Air Force, Ron returned to civilian life, taking a position as a sales clerk with Rhones Men's Clothing Store in Raymondville. Then in the mid 60's, Ron moved his family to Grand Prairie, after learning of opportunities with LTV. In 1969 Ron took a position as a Letter Carrier with the US Postal Service in Irving, TX, where he retired after 27 years of service. Ron was a very proud family man, always making sure his family was provided for, all while teaching them the skills they would need later in life. Every year Ron would look forward to the annual Delgado reunion. Up until recently, Ron knew when the reunion was to occur and would anticipate that day with sheer excitement. All to light up with pure joy when the day would arrive, and he was able to see his brothers and sisters. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Romulo, his wife, Rebecca “Becky” of 46 years, brothers, Elfego “Fego”, Moises, Baldemar “Mai”, Israel, and sister Malvina. Ron is survived by brothers, Tive, Eli, Joe, and sisters, Dina, Gloria, and Blanca, daughters, Kristine (Quinten) Talbot and children, Kris Weygandt and children, and his sons Ronnie Delgado and Ron Poland, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Services with Rosary will be held at 10:00am, on Friday, September 18'th, at Duddlesten Funeral Home in Raymondville, in accordance with current COVID-19 protocol. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Raymondville Cemetery.
