Ronny grew up in Dallas before moving to Irving with his family and attending MacArthur High School. After high school, he began his career in the trucking industry, working his way up from a mechanic to the Regional Sales Manager - Southern States division.
In 1970, Ronny met the love of his life and soulmate, Patti Nell, on a blind date. The two quickly fell in love and married 8 months later. They had just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary when he lost his “pride and joy” to cancer. During their 20 years of marriage, they celebrated the births of 3 children, Michelle, Amy, and Scott. After Patti’s death, Ronny went on to welcome 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren to their family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life. Family was everything to him, and there was nothing he would not do for his family.
Ronny had a deep love of the lake and fishing. His best evenings were spent floating in the boat with a fishing pole in his hand, watching the sunset. When asked what he was up to, the answer was typically a 2 word response, “gone fishin'”. Him and his son spent countless hours on the water waiting for the next big catch.
He was very well known for the countless Ronnyisms he created or quoted through the years. Phrases like “gone with the wind, be back by the next tornado”, “touché turtle”, “stop and smell the roses” and “bye-cycle” are a few of the many trademark Ronny sayings that would easily put a smile on your face.
He is survived by his son, Scott Rollins; daughters Michelle Butler ( Brad) and Amy Maxwell (Spencer); grandchildren Brooke (Ryan) and Brody Rollins, Lynzie Bormes (Logan), Mackenzie Willard (Jonathan), Patti Lee Whitson, Olivia Butler, Delaney Butler, Macey, Jett, and Lexey Maxwell; great grandchildren Marshall and Izzy Willard, Brandi Peaney, and Myles Bennett; sister Sharon Whitaker (Frank); Mother-in-Law Nell Birdwell; best 4-legged friend Toby; and a slew of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Ronny is preceded in death by the love of his life, Patti Nell Rollins, both parents Otis Joe and Edith Louise Rollins, his Father-in-law Grady Birdwell, and his brother Tommy Joe Rollins.
Ronnie’s viewing will be at Sparkman/Crane Funeral home from 4-8pm on October 25, 2023. The service will be held at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home October 26th at 1pm followed by the graveside at Laurel Land Cemetery.
