She was born on August 3, 1949 in McAllen, Texas to Raul and Fidela Valdez. Rosa was raised in McAllen and graduated from McAllen High School in 1967. She had two children, Leonel Garcia Jr and Oma Lee Garcia. She retired from the Salvation Army where she worked more than twenty years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raul and Fidela Valdez; brothers, Raul and Robert Valdez; and sister, Ramona Valdez.
She is survived by her son, Leonel Garcia Jr. and wife, Jessamine Garcia; her daughter, Oma Lee Garcia and husband, Akim O. McBroom; granddaughter, Gabriella Lee McBroom; and a bunch of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held for Rosa on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory.
