Roslyn Faye Stein Goldstein

Roslyn Faye Stein Goldstein, 87, passed away on February 13, 2026. Born and raised in Greenville, MS, she was the youngest of four children. At the University of Alabama, Roslyn was a member of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority, where she made lifelong friends. After college, she moved to Memphis, where she met the love of her life, Gordon Goldstein, a medical student at the University of Tennessee Medical School.

After only two weeks of dating, he proposed to her, but she made him wait a full year. They moved to Dallas in 1962 for his residency at UT Southwestern, and then moved to Newport, RI in 1963, where Gordon served in the US Navy Medical Corps. In 1965, they returned to Dallas with two daughters in tow, where Roslyn quickly became known for her unmistakable Southern drawl.

Roslyn's first love was her family, and she expressed her love through cooking, especially baking. There was always a cake on the counter, cookies in the oven, and dinner on the table at 6 p.m. Everyone who knew her received homemade treats in good times and sad ones. Roslyn was an extraordinary grandmother to her eight grandchildren. As a mother of three daughters, she was beyond thrilled with the birth of her first grandson (finally, a boy) and at only 47 years old spent so much time with him that we joked she practically raised him. Seven more grandchildren followed, and each one got their special day when "Mimi" picked them up from school, took them on an outing, made them dinner, bathed them, and delivered them home ready for bed. Before long, she was simply "Mimi" to everyone in town.

Roslyn was deeply committed to the Dallas community. She was a devoted supporter of Hadassah, dedicating years to supporting its hospitals in Israel. She served as a leader in the Jewish Federation, earning the Bess Nathan Young Leadership Award. She worked to build the first JFS Food Pantry. She was a docent at the original Holocaust Museum located in the JCC and continued in that role for a record 45 years through the expansion to the new downtown location. She spent much of her time dedicated to Congregation Shearith Israel, including her work overseeing the Torah Dedication Project. She cared deeply about the arts. She was a docent at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center and member of every museum in town

When Gordon passed away in 2021, she took over his position as a docent at the George W. Bush Library. This last commitment gave her purpose in the final years of her life.

In 2023, she was diagnosed with ALS and began to lose the abilities that had always defined her vibrant life. She faced each new challenge with quiet strength until the very end.

She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Beth and Larry Konig, Lisa and Mark Zale, and Barbra and Bud Applebaum. She is also survived by her true loves, her grandchildren: Blake (Natalie), Robert (Allison), Meredith (Mark), Margot, Brian, Adam (Katelyn), Marcy (Ben), and Seth. She is also survived by her adored great-grandchildren: Mason, Max, Elliot, Reeves, Juliette, Dylan, and Brooke.
