

Ross E. Brannian, 89, of Irving, TX passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX. Ross will be remembered most fondly as a man of his word, kind and generous to all.
He was born on November 9, 1925 in Randolph, Iowa to the late Harold (HB) and Edna Brannian. He attended Iowa State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geophysical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
A Geophysical Consultant on International & Domestic projects, Ross was employed by Improved Petroleum Recovery (IPR) for the past 19 years. He was well known across the globe and highly respected for his honest and accurate opinions, evaluations and recommendations.
He loved his profession, which allowed him to travel around the world exploring over 20 countries.
He had Professional Affiliations with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Dallas Geological & Geophysical Societies.
Ross was closely involved in the World Affairs Association in Dallas. He was a staunch supporter of the Republican Party and served as a Delegate and Precinct Chairman. He held several offices at Highland Park United Methodist Church, of which he was a member for nearly 40 years.
Survivors include his brother, Richard Brannian of St. Edward, NE; sister-in-law, Doreen Brannian of Columbus, NE; niece, Cathy Wadas and her husband, Stephen, and their son, Cooper of Columbus, NE; nephew, David Brannian of Omaha, NE; and many cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Donald Brannian; and sister, Alice Brannian.
A Funeral Service will be held on December 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX 75225. Burial will be at Randolph Cemetery, Randolph, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the family for designation at a later date.
