

Roy Hughel Briscoe of Mesquite died April 13, 2011. Born In Cooper, TX to Vae and Edwin R. Briscoe March 27, 1928. Moved to Dallas in 1942 and attended North Dallas High. Began a career as a minimum wage chainman with City of Dallas Public Works/Survey Division in 1945 and retired in 1985 as head of City Surveying; managing10 survey crews including 125 surveyors and draftsmen. He also worked as a part time Dallas Police Dept. reservist for 20 years He was a member of North Dallas Baptist Church for 65 years and enjoyed years with the Volunteer Christian Church Builders Assoc., building churches all over the United States. Roy was widowed in 2003 after 58 years of loving marriage to Peggy Lou Skinner Briscoe. He is also preceded in death by his son Ronnie. Surviving Roy are his son, Thomas Richard Briscoe, wife Jennifer and grandchildren: Brian and wife Erika, Kim Sitton and husband Andy, Justin Briscoe and wife Chelsea; great grandchildren, Thomas J. Briscoe and Carson Sitton, sister Charlene Noble and special friend Linda York and others at Open Door Baptist of Mesquite. Roy’s many friends and family members consider this world a better place because he was here. Visitation at Sparkman-Hillcrest on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Chapel East of Hillcrest Mausoleum. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
