Brother Roy was such a beautiful and true Christian. That was my brother. I met him and his beautiful wife Bobbie in 1979. And we were pals for life.

He is truly going to be missed. Heaven has gained another soldier.

To the sons, and family you are in our prayers.

God Bless,
Lillie Hill

It was so wonderful being friends of Bro. Dabbs. He played bass guitar with Loretta as well as sang beautifully. “One day at a time” was one of his signature songs.
He was Deacon along with Leonard. We will never forget his humor and love for his family and church family. Going to miss him dearly. Praying for the family.

Roy Lee Dabbs was born on August 16, 1942 to the union of the late Vernon and Daisy Fowler-Dabbs in Dallas, TX. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very young age.

Roy was an outstanding athlete at both the high school and collegiate levels in football, basketball and track where he won numerous awards.

In 1964 he met his soulmate, the former Bobbie Giles in Dallas, TX where a new journey began. They were united in Holy Matrimony on December 19, 1964 and from this union they shared two sons, Darryl (Dallas, TX) and Derek (New Orleans, LA).

Roy and his family became members of Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in 1985 where he was a faithful member and served on the Deacon Board.

Roy was employed and retired from Cullum & Co. (Tom Thumb) in 2007. He was a proud member of the Gospel Harmoneers for 38 years, where he served as first tenor/lead singer and also served as manager in later years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Bobbie Giles-Dabbs; Parents, Vernon and Daisy Fowler-Dabbs; Brothers Claude, Virgil and Charles Dabbs; Sisters, Dessie Belfry and Marilyn Jo Jones.
