He is preceded in death by his late wife Kay Thorn, his parents Willis and Helen Thorn, and his brother Ronald Thorn. He is survived by his daughter Natalie Stallbohm and son-in-law James Stallbohm of Forney, Texas; step-son Larry Johnson (Jilma) of Seagoville, Texas along with my stepmother Barbara Prather of Combine, Texas. Brothers Darrell Alan Thorn (Carolyn) of Edgewood, Texas, Johnny Thorn (Brenda) of Garland, Texas and Dennis Thorn (Julie) of Hortense, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived in Pleasant Grove for 53 years until he relocated to his hometown Edgewood in 2018. But in February 2020 he began living at The Waterford @ Mesquite due to health reasons.
Dad was an expert mechanic, former NHRA racer and avid hunter. Anyone who knew Peanut knew he loved an iced cold Budweiser, "BS-ing" with his buddies, having a good time at Kellers Burger, and grilling ribs.
There are some special people that must be acknowledged. First, to his surrogate son James Greenup. You two had an incredible friendship and bond. I know he cherished the friendship. Thank you for being there for him and loving him all these years. Secondly, the two individuals who were his care givers at The Waterford @ Mesquite. Terry White and Margie Newsome. I cannot thank you enough for your compassion and the above and beyond care you gave Dad. Thirdly, Danny Hanks and all the hunting buddies. I cannot even imagine the fun you guys must have had on y'alls hunting trips but I do know for a fact that was some of the best times of Dad's life.
To my husband, James who accompanied me through this incredible journey with Dad these last three years. Thank you for your love, support, and patience.
To all of my extended family and friends thank you for your prayers, well wishes, and encouragement. I am truly grateful and humble.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." -Matthew 11:28
