Ruby Lee (Wooten) Moseley

Ruby Lee Moseley went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Ruby was born in Dallas, TX on October 29, 1935 to Simpson Wooten and Nellie Mae Jordan. She was the fourth of five children. She graduated from NR Crozier Tech High School in Dallas. She always loved music and dancing. She began performing at a young age with Texas Slim and the Midstate Ramblers. They performed at the famous Dallas Sportatorium and traveled to Nashville, Tennessee and appeared at the Grand Ole Opry. She sang and was an expert yodeler. One evening while walking home from the Sportatorium she was introduced to Pete Moseley.

Ruby gave up her love of performing for love. They married in April 1952 and started a family. Her first job was at Skillern Drug. Over the years she worked in the bookkeeping departments at Briggs Weaver and Kenyon Furniture and was part owner of Moseley Furniture. Pete and Ruby loved to travel with Vegas being a popular destination. She loved slot machines and seemed to have the best luck as she always went home a winner. She enjoyed cruising with her son Carl and sitting on her balcony watching the world go by.

Ruby loved the lord and was baptized at Bachman Lake Baptist Church. In later years, she enjoyed listening to her son James preach. Ruby was independent, strong willed, fiercely loyal, quick witted and on occasion outspoken. She loved her family and spending time with her little “darlins”. Her great grandchildren were her greatest joy, from attending Dalton’s soccer games, Sunday lunches at Furr’s with Ashley and Cody and dancing with Cory.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband Clinton “Pete” Moseley, parents Simpson Wooten and Nellie Wooten Bassett, brothers Harold and Bill Wooten and sister Dorothy Ray. She is survived by sons Carl Moseley and Wanda Windham and James Moseley and wife Karen; grandchildren Michelle Lloyd and husband Ed, Jeff Moseley and wife Stacy, Penny Haskins and husband Curtis; great grandchildren Dalton Lloyd, Ashley Moseley, Cody Moseley, Cory Haskins; sister Katheryn Bullock and husband Jack as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

There will be a private graveside service on Friday at Laurel Land Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
