
She was born on March 27th, 1923 in Shreveport, Louisiana to James Hugh Van Hoose and Ruth Marie (Casey) Van Hoose. Her siblings were James Hugh Van Hoose, Henry Lacassagne Van Hoose, Thomas Casey Van Hoose, and Annie White Van Hoose. She was married in 1958 to Aulcie Arbin Stephens until his death in 1973. She was married to Daniel Edward Hartnett in 1979 until his death in 2006.
She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, later moving to Marshall, Texas where she graduated from high school.
During World War II, she worked in Dallas, Texas for the U. S. Army as a secretary and later in the war was promoted to quartermaster for the 5 state area (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico). After the war she primarily worked in the Oil & Gas industry, first for Hunt Oil Company and Rudman Resources and served various roles including secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Assistant.
She lived in Dallas, Texas for most of her life before moving to McKinney, Texas in 2012 to live with her son. She enjoyed taking trips to casinos, going to horse races, and taking cruises.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Stephens and his wife Janis, stepdaughter Diane Swanson, stepdaughter Katherine Hartnett, stepdaughter Dorothy Blazek and her husband Alvin, stepson Danny Hartnett and his wife Sharon, stepdaughter Elaine Smith and her husband Matt, stepson Peter Hartnett and his wife Penny, grandson Brian Williams, grandson Kelly Stephens, granddaughter Paige Stephens, grandson Derry Stephens, many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her nephews Buddy Van Hoose and his wife Mary and Tom Van Hoose and his wife June.
She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and both husbands.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, January 8th 2015 at 2 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Road, Dallas, TX 75238 with burial and reception following at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7th from 6 pm until 8 pm at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
