Passionately known as Mama Ruth; she possessed a sweet spirit and expressed love and kindness during each encounter.  She was the neighborhood hairdresser during me and my sisters’ childhood and teenage years (back during the days of the straightening comb and hot curlers).  She kept us all looking our best.   When I learned she was the dear great-grandmother of my niece and nephew, Dailen and DeJai Carson, I could not wait to meet them and their mom, Michele, at her home for visits.  She would always be so happy to see us all.   She loved her great-grandchildren and their mother so much, she treated Michele like her own daughter.  I already miss her warm greetings, beautiful smile and warm embrace.  I thank God for blessing our life journeys to cross paths.

My Condolences to the Family of Ruth E. James, I have know Ruth since I was very little girl on Colonial in Sunny South Dallas and she worked at the only Beauty Shop in South Dallas on Pine Street.  She will be solely miss, say Hi to my mother. Love and will miss you!

Cousin Ruth did my hair when I was a little girl at her shop in South Dallas. I always loved when she did my hair because it was a treat and she didn't burn me with the curling iron...smile. I also remember when she and Aunt Mattie would come to visit my grandmother, Margaret. Sometimes Uncle Young and Aunt Lenora would visit along with them and it was such a joy to watch my "elders" laughing and talking with each other with such joy.  I'm sure Ruth was my daddy's (Son/Lorenza Sr.) oldest cousin. I'm glad that she had the blessing of living a long life. She will be missed. Sending love and prayers to  the Freddy Carson family and all of the extended Alexander family.

Ruth was such a kind and compassionate person. She loved God and her family. Ruth was the patriarch of the Alexander cousins.  God granted her 94 years on this earth.  We praise God for all the bonus years he gave her. Ruth was aways present at relatives' funeral. When she was unable to drive, her daughter-in-law would bring her. Ruth possessed a very quiet spirit and loved to talk about the goodness of God. Rest in peace Cousin for you have earned your crown. Family be blessed!

Ruth was so sweet, she reminded me so much of her mother,  my Aunt Mattie.  I remember them both coming to visit my grandfather and grandmother and they would just laugh and carry on  so much.  I was just a little girl but look forward to seeing them.  Ruth you will be missed greatly.  Prayers for the family

Ruth was my first cousin she was always so quiet and sweet.  I remember her visiting my father her Uncle Young and my mother her Aunt Callie all the time with her mother my Aunt Mattie (my father's sister).  We would just laugh and  have a good time.
