Ruth Mae Price Sanders was born in Wilmer, Texas on September 1, 1922, and transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, May 27, 2023, having recently celebrated her centennial. She was the youngest daughter of Ludora Smith Price and Sylvester Walter Price. Her five elder siblings, Jessie Price Clarke, Essie Price Craig, Luther, Oletha and Herman Price, preceded her in death, as did her beloved husband, Clifford “Casey” Sanders. She attended Dallas public schools, N.W. Harlee and Booker T. Washington where she excelled. She began college at Huston Tillitson University in 1939, and later attended Southern Methodist University, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration with a certificate in secretarial proficiency. A life-long learner, she was active with her alumni groups including the Washington-Lincoln High School Alumni of Dallas. Ruth was a business professional and administrator. She worked in social service with the YWCA, Dallas Alliance Education Task Force for Desegregation, Black Dallas Remembered and was a Girl Scout troop leader. She served as a Texas Silver-Haired Legislator to advocate for seniors and was a former member of the South Dallas Cultural Choir. She enjoyed the arts and train travel. Always active in Christian Women's Fellowship, Ruth was an early church member of Denley Drive Christian Disciples of Christ, St. Paul United Methodist, Friendship West Baptist and later First United Methodist Church. She left an exceptional impact both as a mother and role model. Daughter Kathleen Sanders will cherish her memory as will her extended family, including nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, alumni and community members.
