Ruth was born in Dallas, Texas on February 26, 1943 to parents Herbert and Laura Mae Lewis. Granny and Poey, as they were later known by their grandchildren, nurtured an early love of piano in their daughter that bloomed into a lifelong dedication to the art of piano performance. Ruth attended The University of Missouri and earned a degree in Sociology. She married the love of her life, Richard Seib, on Groundhog Day in 1963 and together they raised their four sons in Dallas. Richard and Ruth would later serve as the heart of their burgeoning family tree by hosting bustling, beautiful holidays and joyful family vacations. Ruth had a deeply-rooted circle of lifelong friends with whom she shared a rich fellowship of motherhood, books, travel and all the triumphs and travails of life. She also cared deeply for her church and community. She served as a Sunday School teacher, President of The Methodist Hospitals of Dallas Guild and on countless service and fundraising projects. Family and friends will remember her for her graceful, quiet strength, her love of music and dedication to her family.
