Sadie Stoneking was born in 1917 in Sour Lake, Tx. She was blessed and enjoyed 93 years here blessing others with her compassion, love, and grace. Along the way. Sadie would marry John Clinton Smith in 1933 and together they had three children, Charles, Tommy, and Sharon. After Clint's untimely death at the age of 48 Sadie would later marry Hershel Stoneking and give birth to one son Dennis.
Sadie had one of those "big hearts" that allowed her to live a full and rich life. She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. She was especially involved in the Church's Senior Department. Sadie at one time was a very active member of the Grandmother's Club, the Rebecca's and the Eastern Stars holding offices in each of these clubs. She loved to volunteer her time and energy to projects that helped those who "as she put it were not as blessed as me." Another of Sadie's favorite activities were all types of arts and crafts and playing cards and dominoes especially "forty two".
Sadie was an exellent Hair Stylist and worked for several shops in the Casa View and Casa Linda area of Dallas. She would later go on the work at Texas Instruments and eventually retired from there. She was one of the first residents a Mesquite Gardens a Senior Citizen Retirement Complex. There she was loved and fell in love with many of the residents she called "her special friends".
All together Sadie had four children, eight grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and even great-great-grand children. Everyone of them loved her deeply and called her "Mimi". That didn't take long to catch on and so soon she became "Mimi" to everybody. She will be deeply missed and yet we are so greatful for the time each of us had to share in her God blessed life.
Family will received friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd. Dallas, TX 75228. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Grove Hill Funeral Chapel, Interment to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
