

Sam Rayburn Rackler 93, of Garland, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Monday January 11th 2016. Sam was born on March 30, 1922 in Bonham, TX to George and Nora Rackler. He is survived by his Wife Juanita B. Rackler of Sulphur Springs TX They were married on October 21, 1944 and spent 71 wonderful years at each other’s sides’ Sam is also survived by Daughter Patricia Bloodworth of Oklahoma, 9 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-great Grandchildren and many nieces’ nephews and cousins. Sam is preceded in death by his parents George and Nora, four children; Teresita Weeks, Jimmy Rackler Sr., Eddy (Mike) Rackler, And Bruce Rackler he is also preceded by 5 Brothers and 3 Sisters; Sam was in the Coast Guard from 23 Oct 1942 during WWII and achieved the rank of Seaman 2nd Class before being Honorably Discharged from Service on 21 June 1944. Sam was very proud of his military service to his country and honored to be a veteran. Sam also was a proud member of the Freemasons he was initiated in November of 1953 & he passed in January 1954 and was raised in Feb of 1954 at the South Dallas Lodge (now known as Jewel P. Lightfoot Lodge) No 1283 in Dallas TX. Sam very much loved to garden and even continued after they downsized and moved into an apartment, he was particularly known for his peppers and loved to share them with his family and friends. Sam and Juanita attended Rogers Baptist Church in Garland.Sam will be missed very much as he touched a lot of lives in his 93 years Funeral Services for Sam will be held at 2 PM on Friday January 15th 2016 at the Laurel Land Funeral Home at 6000 S. R.L. Thornton Freeway Dallas Texas 75232, with Pastor Joe Fincher officiating. Entombment will follow at Laurel Land where Sam will receive military and masonic rites. Family will receive friends on Thursday January 14th 2016 from 6-7 Pm
