Sammie “Sam” Puente Alcala, 59, was born in Dallas, Texas on February 24, 1957 to Guillermo R. Alcala and Stella (Puente) Alcala. He entered into rest on July 29, 2016 in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones.
Raised in Dallas, he graduated from North Dallas High School, Class of 1976, as a proud Bulldog fan. Sam worked as a licensed master plumber, a trade passed on to him from his father. He continued his family legacy and business through hard work and dedication to the profession. Sam worked tirelessly to provide for his loved ones, and was always one to help those in need.
Sam was a sports fanatic, closely following almost every major sport. He always made sports a family event, and enjoyed watching, attending, and sometimes betting on athletic events with his loved ones. Sam cherished his large family, and will be remembered as an outgoing and outspoken person. He always carried a big smile, great sense of humor, and heart bigger than Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Guillermo and Stella Alcala, sister Theresa Marquez, and grandchild Matthew Alcala.
Sam is survived by his wife, Christine “Chris” Alcala, sons Michael Alcala (wife Liz), John Alcala (wife Faby), Reuben Alcala, and Abraham Alcala (“wife” Gabie), brother Willie Alcala (wife Laura), sisters Mary Ann Palacios and Grace Sifuentes, and grandchildren Gabrielle Alcala, Aubrey Alcala, Isaiah Alcala, Luis Gonzalez, Gabriella Gonzalez, Austin Cisneros, Brittney Alcala, Sara Alcala, and Sophia Alcala, his compadre Rick Estrada, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.
Join Chris and family in remembering and celebrating the life of Sam. Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the Holy Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., with the committal to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery and a gathering at the Alcala Residence.
