Sammy Anderson Dowdle

Sammy was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He married Mary in 1950, and the couple had 3 children. He was a manager at Alcan Aluminum Metal Good Division where he worked for more than 40 years.

In his spare time, Sammy enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. Sam and Mary loved to travel with their family and friends. He also spent several years umpiring and playing softball in the Dallas area.

Sam’s family and friends will always remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents, George and Ola; brother, Bill; son, Sammy C.; son-in-law, Dean Douglas; granddaughter, Amy Morrison; and nephew, Mike Dowdle.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Belinda Douglas; son, David Dowdle (wife Jeneva); 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Sammy will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and committal to follow from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pleasant Grove Christian Church or to a charity of your choice.
