

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sammy (Sam) Lee Evans. Sammy was born on May 5, 1934 in Dallas Texas and passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 90, in Carthage, Texas.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, JW and Miamay Evans and his first wife Donna Sue Carstens.
Left to mourn this great loss is his wife Norma “Sue” Woodlock. His three daughters: Sharyl Evans, Lori Evans and Linda (Chris) Rowan. His grandchildren: Christopher (Kirsten) Atteberry, Michelle (Jamie) Dobbs, Tyler Rowan and Nathan Rowan. Stepchildren: Gayle (Tom) Singleton, Kelly (Laura) Bragg and Kerry Trull. Great grandchildren: Trever Wiggins, Carson Atteberry, Kailee Atteberry, Riker Rowan and Andrew Rowan. Step Grandchildren: Evan Dobbs, Elly Dobbs, and Jade Dobbs. He also leaves behind 9 Step Grandchildren, 4 Step Great Grandchildren and 1 Step Great Great Grandchild. Sam loved all of his family members.
When Sam graduated high school he joined the Navy. Sam serviced our country with pride on the USS ORION AS-18. After his tour was over he went to UNT. After college Sam was a home builder and general contractor for the Dallas area for many years. When he wasn’t working
Sam loved spending time with his family, hunting, gold prospecting, fishing and traveling.
Dad you will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew you. You were our “rock”, our “go-to” person. Everyone could count on your support during our good times and bad.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
The pallbearers will be: Christopher Atteberry, Tyler Rowan, Nathan Rowan and Trever Wiggins.
A visitation for Sam will be held Wednesday March 26, 2025 at 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L. Thornton Frwy, Dallas, Texas 75232.
Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
