Sammy Lou Spillman

Sammy Lou Spillman, 90, of Forney, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. She was able to celebrate her 90th birthday just a month before surrounded by her beloved family and friends. She showed that same genuine smile and light in her eyes upon their presence alone.

Born on August 17th, 1936, to Etta Marie and Samuel Guy Jones, Sammy was known for her deep love for her family, people, and the ability to make anyone feel seen and welcome.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Ted James Spillman, son Timothy Kevin Spillman, and many cherished family members who passed before her.

Sammy is survived by her son, Ted James Spillman, Grandson Ted Jay and wife Sara Spillman and her great-grandchildren Riley and Jake who loved their Granny very much.

She loved cooking, taking and looking at old photos, a good chicken-fried steak, shopping—often with little Ted in tow—and spending time with those she loved most. In her younger years, many weekends were spent with nieces, nephews, and extended family at Pappy and Ree’s swimming pool. Above all, she treasured people and connection, reflected in her devotion to her husband, her steadfast support and protection of her boys, her enduring friendships from Urbandale and Comerica Bank, where she worked until retirement, and the many people she welcomed as family—whether related by blood or not.

Although she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is whole again, reunited with her Heavenly Father in boundless peace and joy.

Sammy will forever be cherished and lovingly remembered.

A Committal Service will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228 on September 23, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
