

Samuell Thomas Worthington, Jr., “Tom”, died in Dallas, Texas on December 7, 2016 at the age of 85. Tom was born on December 25, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Samuell and Anna Slaughter Worthington. In 1966, he married Carolyn Hutchinson, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary this spring. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1948. Tom obtained his BS in Civil Engineering in 1953 and his MS in Civil Engineering in 1963, both from SMU. He retired from TXDOT in 1993 after 41 years of service. Tom served in the US Navy with the Civil Engineering Corps, was stationed at Naval Air Station Kingsville and in the Philippines, and retired from the Naval Reserve as a Commander. He lived his entire life in Dallas, Texas.
Tom is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children Jennifer Lamont (Peter) and Samuell T. III (Michelle), four grandchildren Emily Lamont Shane, Brennan Lamont, Christopher Worthington, Katherine Worthington, and one great granddaughter, Elaine AnneMarie Shane.
There will be visitation from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, December 9, 2016 with a Rosary at 7 at Sparkman - Crane Funeral home. The funeral will be on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10 am at Calvary Hill Cemetery’s North Chapel with graveside services to follow. Pallbearers will be Sam Worthington, III, Peter Lamont, Jr., Brennan Lamont, Robert Greening, Rick Kirby, and Brian Shane.
