The sunrise of a beautiful life commenced upon the horizon of Lyon, France on February 20, 1960. The home of Michelle Marie Louise Moulis and Justin Etienne Seguy was blessed with the birth of a beautiful daughter, Sarah Seguy.
Sarah was raised by her grandparents in Rodez (Southern France) where she attended school before graduating at the age of 16. After graduating she then moved to Paris, where she began working and attending law school. There she met her former husband, Louis Rico, with whom she started a family. After the birth of the couple’s daughter, Jessica, the family moved in 1986 making a new home here in the United States.
Sarah spent the majority of her career working for Dallas Independent School District and Walgreens where she was able to expound on her passion for working with others. It was not uncommon for her to fondly recall stories of her interactions with customers and coworkers alike. It goes without saying that her effervescent spirit touched hundreds, if not thousands, of people in her short time with us.
Wine aficionado, perfume connoisseur, audiophile (as long as it’s not Country), and lover of stylish boots and good food - that is the Sarah we all knew and loved. She enjoyed sleeping through multiple alarm clocks, listening to new music Fridays, and spending time with her many friends and loved ones.
Sarah entered her eternal rest on July 21, 2021. Although her departure has left a vacancy in the lives of many, pleasant memories of her life will always be cherished by those who knew and loved her. Sarah is survived by Jessica Rivera, her loving daughter and only child. Jessica was frequently asked if Sarah was her sister and before she could answer, Sarah offered a resounding, “YES!” each and every time. Sarah’s son-in-law, Gabe, and her two grandchildren, Gabby & Gigi, (who affectionately refer to her as Mimi) will also cherish their loving memories of Sarah. Sarah is also survived by her self-proclaimed “sufficient other”, Greg Berg, who has been enthralled with her since late 2010 when he became an integral part of the family. While Sarah deeply missed France, she will always be bound to the United States through the people she loved and cared about most.
Should you find yourself in shock hearing the news of Sarah's premature departure, you are not alone. Please feel free to celebrate her life with a glass of red wine and good music (as long as it’s not Country!) This is an urgent reminder that life is fleeting, tomorrow is never guaranteed, and dreams should be pursued without abandon.
If you loved Sarah as much as we did, please join us in celebrating her life. She certainly left an impact on us all, and on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 5 - 7 pm, we will be meeting at Sparkman-Crane for a celebratory toast to the remarkable life of Sarah Seguy Rico. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to a worthy cause of your choice; but would kindly suggest: American Cancer Society,
ASPCA or Genesis Women's Shelter.
