

Saul O. Sanchez Sr. passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 7, 1926, in San Ygnacio, Texas, to Jose Maria Sanchez and Josefa Martinez. He was raised in Laredo, Texas, by his mother, after his father died when Saul was just three years old. Saul attended school in Laredo, Texas, and married Idalia Alvarez in 1955. Together, they had six children. Saul worked for the United States government in various capacities and locations, including Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Dallas, Texas; Puebla, Mexico; and New Orleans, Louisiana. Saul possessed an engaging personality with the ability to gab easily with others and making lifelong friends wherever he went. He was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, who will dearly miss him. He is predeceased by his parents, siblings, and eldest son, Saul Jr. He is survived by his five remaining children: Sergio Sanchez Sr., Michela Yvette Prigoff, Suzanna Etessam (Jeff), Samuel Sanchez, and Servando Sanchez. He is also survived by his grandchildren—Selina Figueroa, Saul Sanchez III (Erica), Sergio Sanchez Jr. (Miranda), Sherry Newman, Sonny Sanchez (Mendy), Chase Garrett, Maya Perez Gainey (Paul), Anthony Perez, and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff at the VA Medical Center Hospice in Dallas, Texas, who lovingly and kindly cared for Saul during his final days.
