Severa L. Contreras

Severa Lujan Contreras passed away on January 20, 2023, at Methodist Charlton Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, at the age of 89, and is now peacefully awaiting the joyful Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Severa is survived by her daughters, sons, brother, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous relatives. Severa Lujan Contreras’ daughters, sons and brother: Sally Contreras, Anita Contreras, Rebecca Alcaraz and husband, JR Hernandez, Beatrice Wright and husband, Jesse Wright, Robert Contreras, Jimmy Contreras, Johnny Lujan. She leaves with loving memories twenty grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Severa was born on November 8, 1933 in Waco, Texas, to Merced Lujan and Jesusa Flores Lujan. Her younger years were spent with her parents, brothers and sisters singing and working on a ranch. Severa married Isabel Ramos Contreras, in 1953, and they welcomed eight children into their home. Her children remember her as a selflessly loving, nurturing mother and great cook who cared for them and made home-cooked meals. Severa was a selfless devoted and nurturing grandmother every day of her life, and was dearly loved by all of her grandchildren. Her kitchen was always open; she shared what she had and her love was priceless. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants, and watching Dallas Cowboys games. Severa Lujan Contreras is preceded in death by her husband, Isabel Ramos Contreras, Isabel Contreras II (son), Lujan Contreras (adopted-son), Lucy Contreras (daughter), Merced Lujan, Jesusa Flores Lujan (parents), Modesta Reyes, Victoria Contreras, Anita Lujan, Matea Padilla (sisters) Merced Lujan Jr., Joe Lujan, Santos Lujan, Merced Lujan II, Pablo Lujan, Alberto Lujan (brothers).
