Sharon accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1948 and was baptized at Pleasant view Baptist Church. She met the love of her life, Phillip Dwane Nettle and they married at Pleasant View on June 8, 1953. They celebrated 62 years together before Phil’s death in 2016. Sharon was an incredible homemaker but also managed to run the family business for 33 years alongside Phil.
In 1971, the family joined Rodgers Baptist Church in Garland, Texas where Phil and Sharon were faithful members. Sharon sang in the choir and a ladies trio, played the piano for Sunday School and for services when needed, Booster Band (preschool) on Sunday nights, led the dessert committee for Missions Conference every year and served as a deacons wife.
Sharon had a host of friends but one special friendship began when she and Glenda Barnett met as young girls on Trammel Drive in Dallas. They remained close for over 80 years. She also enjoyed her years at Rodgers Baptist Church with longtime friends, loved playing “42”, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family. Her laugh, her love of chocolate, her spunky personality and her caring spirit will be sorely missed.
