Sharon Kay Thurmond

Sharon was born on September 4, 1941, in Harwood, Missouri to

Francis Edward Monkress and Crystal Leoma (Meighen) Monkress.

Sharon was preceded in death by husbands Bobby Winchester and Jesse Thurmond; dear children, Christina Schomber, Jeffery Eagling; Sister Ruth Ann and brother Larry Monkress.

Sharon is survived by daughter Bobbie Jeanette Oliver and her husband Kellis Oliver; Stephanie Kay Steelman and her husband Kenneth “Pokey” Steelman; four beloved grandchildren, Justin Schomber, James Schomber, Brandon Oliver and Jared Oliver; and five cherished great-grandchildren, James Jr., Kaidan, Ensley, Beckham, Maddie; and her brother Ronnie Monkress.

In her personal life, Sharon enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Sharon will be dearly missed and forever remembered - listening to music (especially Elvis), watching “Murder She Wrote” and her wicked sense of humor.

Our family sincerely appreciates all the prayers and support we’ve received during this time of loss.

A visitation for Sharon will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6300 South R.L., Dallas, TX 75232. A graveside will occur Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6300 S R L Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75232.
