Shelley Shwiff

Shelley Shwiff, April 2, 1958 - January 28, 2011. Shelley died after a courageous battle of more than eight years against stage IV breast cancer. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Shwiff, siblings, Kathy Shwiff, Laurie Shwiff and Stephen Shwiff, sister-in-law, Dr. Barbara Spezia, beloved nephews and niece, Austin, Emily and Nicholas Spezia-Shwiff, several aunts and many cousins. Her father, Marvin G. Shwiff, predeceased her on July 18, 2004.

A graduate of Hillcrest High School and the University of Texas at Austin, Shelley was the most caring and generous friend with many wonderful relationships that lasted throughout her life. She served as "godmother" to Eric, Tracy and Josh Gold and to Brett, Josh and Seth Ordiway and they honor her as pallbearers.

Shelley's passion for friends and family, travel, Broadway theater, reading and movies led to a full and busy life. She served on the Board of Directors for Children's Cancer Fund, 718 W. Arapaho, Richardson, TX 75080 and gave generously of her time and resources to other worthwhile causes.

Services will be Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 1:30 pm at Temple Emanu-El, Lefkowitz Chapel, 8500 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, TX 75225 with burial following, Rabbi David Stern presiding.

Shelley's family and friends want to thank Dr. Joyce 0' Shaughnessy and her staff at Texas Oncology Baylor for superior treatment throughout her illness and the loving hospice care providers from Vitas Healthcare for their special care and support over the last month.
