Shirley Mae Benn, 90, passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas on March 9, 2026. Born in St. Joseph Township, Ohio on September 10, 1935, Shirley grew up on a farm in rural Michigan, where she met her beloved husband, Douglas Frank Benn, in the eighth grade. Doug and Shirley married in 1955 and together built a loving home and raised three children, Christopher, Susan, and Kathy. Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones and hosting them in her home. Doug preceded Shirley in death in 2023, ending a marriage that spanned nearly seven decades.
Shirley is survived by her two children, Chris and Susan, four grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Madeline, and Joshua, and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Lee and Ella.
Visitation will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2026 in Lakeside Gardens North at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225.
