

SIBILA, Silvie Louise Ingels Martin, born Sept. 6, 1919 in Chicago, IL.; passed into eternal life Jan. 29, 2015. Silvie was the daughter of Belgian immigrants, Jerome Julian Ingels and Elisa (Alice) Verest. She led a long, full, active, and productive life, raising nine children while working full time as a secretary, then establishing herself as a realtor, working for Ebby Halliday for 17 years until her retirement in 1993. Silvie loved playing the piano, feeding and watching the birds, and spending time with her large family. She married Alfred Sibila in 1975 and together they danced, gardened and travelled the world.
Silvie was a long-time member of St. Rita Catholic Church, Infant of Prague Circle, Holy Spirit Circle, Yellow Rose (an organization she founded) and a volunteer with White Rose Women’s Center. She was also a member of Brookhaven Country Club, North Dallas Woman’s Club, Tower Club, Tripper Dance Club and Club 25 Dance Club.
Silvie is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Turner (Ovilla), Betty and James Sitton (Midlothian), Judy Lam (Belgium), Diana and Harlan Thatcher (Dallas), Dr. Peggy Russell (Austin), Penny Anderly and Ken Meyers (Dallas), and Pam Gibbs (Denton). She is also survived by her two sons, James Darwin Martin, Jr. of Garland and Donald Jerome Martin and his wife Charlotte Hwang of Tucson, AZ; her step-son, David Sibila of Colorado; sister Alice Morgan and brother Jerome J.C. Ingels, as well as 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; her parents; an infant daughter, Mary; son-in-law, Milt Lam; step-children Paul and Patty Sibila; and her youngest sister, Helen Ingels (who died 1/18/15).
“Mom” to 9, “Mimi” to 61, Silvie leaves a legacy of strength, courage, ambition, determination and faith to her abundant family.
Visitation 4-7pm, followed by ROSARY at 7 pm, Wed., Feb 4, Calvary Hill Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Ln., Dallas. Mass of Christian Burial Thurs., Feb 5th at 1pm-St Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Rd.
Pallbearers will be Silvie’s grandsons: Robert and Scott Phipps, Ryan and Zach Sitton, Wyatt Russell, Anthony Martin, Eric and Adam Anderly, Emery and Aubrey Martin.
