Sophie Centeno Cortez

Sophie, a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is survived by her husband Gilbert, sons Gilbert Jr., Bill, David, daughter Gina Gray, sons-in-law Scott Gray and Eddie Vargas, daughters-in-law Sylvia Cortez and Didy Cortez, and many grandchildren. Sophie is preceded in death by her parents and her eldest daughter, Lindy.

Sophie graduated from Fox Tech High School in San Antonio. She retired from the Federal Government as a professional secretary. Sophie was married to her elementary school sweetheart, Gilbert, for 72 years. Sophie was a truly great woman who was devoted to her husband and her family. She was passionate about being a military spouse and displayed Marine Corps pride faithfully. She was the best person one could be blessed with. She is away from us for just a short time, until we are together again, with no pains, no burdens, no worries, no sorrow, in God's Kingdom of Heaven.

Family visitation will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas on Thursday, May 25, from 4:00pm-6:00pm

A service will be held in the Chapel at Grove Hill Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, at 10:00am.

Immediately following the service will be light food and drinks at Grove Hill Funeral Home from 11:00 am - 12:00pm, followed by a funeral procession for the internment service at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
