On Monday morning, July 1, 2019, Mrs. Sophie Ng passed away peacefully with her family by her side. This passing marks the end of her courageous 14-month battle with glioblastoma, brain cancer.
Sophie lived a vibrant seventy years of life, serving multiple roles: mother, wife, sister, and friend.
A successful entrepreneur, Sophie led her wholesale business to great prosperity throughout the US. As longtime member and advisor of the World Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, she traveled abroad extensively in support of business ventures. Her appreciation for the arts and culture also inspired many travel adventures around the world. As both a flight attendant and world traveler, she circumnavigated the world six times over.
In her spare time, Sophie was also a skilled and avid golfer. She often enjoyed playing alongside her husband and friends of Stonebriar Women’s Golf Association and Mulan Ladies Golf, winning numerous trophies thanks to her smooth and effortless swing. Sophie dedicated over thirty years to giving back to the Dallas/Fort Worth Community, the same community that provided her and her husband with their American Dream. She was actively involved with community outreach, volunteering, and participating in events held by various organizations such as: the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce, Chinese Community Center of Dallas, Red Cross of Richardson, Dallas Taiwanese Benevolent Association, and many more.
A family person at heart, Sophie was dearly loved and respected by many. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Peter Ng, daughter Sharyne Loesch and her husband Chris Loesch, daughter Stefanie Ng and her husband Chris Li, goddaughter Dr. Edee Lin and her family, and Sophie’s beloved dog-son Aki Ng. A Taiwan native, she was the only daughter of six children; her parents were Lei Shun Yang and Shin Yang, and siblings were Wei-De Yang (deceased), Ken Yang, Ray Yang, Richard Yang, and William Yang.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Sophie Ng will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at 12PM in the chapel of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home.
The Ng Family thanks everyone for their support and condolences during this time. As another option to sending flowers, donations can be made in Sophie’s honor to support research towards a cure for glioblastoma brain cancer using the online link below.
