Stanley was born in Ft. Worth, Texas, in 1945, to Sam and Elizabeth Spigel, who had immigrated from Russia. He was the baby of 5 children. He graduated Paschal High School in 1964 and in 1968 he graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Texas Christian University. Throughout high school and college he worked in his family’s pawn shops.
Knowing he always wanted to be self-employed, Stanley started S&S Tuxedo Rentals straight out of college. In 1980 he switched to commercial real estate, opening Spigel Properties. He started with shopping centers in Texas and grew the business to cover 10 states.
Stanley was a member of Chabad San Antonio and a member of Shearith Israel in Dallas. He was also an avid supporter of the American Israel Political Action Committee. He was an extremely loving and kind person who was always surrounded by family and friends who adored him. He was extremely generous, had a fun-loving, but competitive nature and loved a good time.
He will be missed terribly by his wife, Barbara Spigel, and his two children Stuart Spigel and Julie (and Michael) Zimmermann. His two granddaughters, Jordan and Tori Zimmermann, were the pride of his life. Other family members who will miss him greatly are his brother, Dan Spigel, Tamar Neubauer, his great nephew David and wife Sahar Weil, his nephew Adam Spigel, his niece Laurie Spigel, his niece Pam Rabin, and his nephew Greg and wife Lidia Rabin.
