

He was born in Anchorage, Alaska to Billy H. Thomas and Carol Louise Partrick Thomas. Both parents were in the Army and eventually stationed In Germany for a few years. He has two siblings, Lisa Ann and Andrew Tan, who joined the family from Viet Nam.
After the war, they settled in Richardson, Texas, however Steve finished school at Boles Home High School in Quinlin, Texas. He apprenticed at their print shop & then began working at the Greenville Herald Banner newspaper after graduation. While there, he met his future wife, Judy Balthrop working in the composing room. She attended East Texas State University in the neighboring town of Commerce. Six months later they were married at Hillcrest Baptist in Dallas by the end of 1981.
They had two children, Laura Ann and Christopher Seth. By 1990, the family settled down in Cedar Hill and watched the town and their children grow. He also welcomed and was loving caregiver, to his mother-in-law, Lorene Balthrop for eight years, until her passing last year at 93.
Stephen, for a time, raise lovebirds, enjoyed a little wood working, and especially loved to fish & camp while visiting lakes around Texas, Arkansas & Oklahoma. They were also able to partake in two Caribbean Cruises.
His mother preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, children, siblings & sister-in-law Katherine Moyer.
A memorial was held October 20th in his home in Cedar Hill, Texas. The home was bursting with wonderful family and good friends.
