Steven Keith Hanson

Steven Keith Hanson was born on April 8, 1951, in Dallas Texas to James Otis Hanson Sr. and Georgia Hanson. Steve walked through the gates of Heaven on September 17, 2013 at the age of 62. He is preceded in death by this parents James and Georgia Hanson, his brother James Otis Hanson Jr., and niece Christie Louise Sarrett.

He is survived by his sister, Marlene Works, his brother Norman and his wife Mary Hanson. He was also loved by generations of nieces and nephews. Steve also leaves behind a dear friend, Bruce Bennett.

Steve was an artist and loved to play the piano. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and poetry. He was so talented in poetry that one of his poems was published. He loved all his family and enjoyed all the family gatherings. Steve brought love, laughter, and smiles to everyone that he loved. He will forever be missed. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. with services starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Grove Hill Funeral Home.

Don't think of him as gone away

his journey's just begun,

life holds so many facets

this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing

that we could know today

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.

And think of him as living

in the hearts of those he touched...

for nothing loved is ever lost

and he was loved so much.
