Born in Dallas to Herman and Frieda Morse, Stuart grew up with a deep love for his community and a quiet wit that stayed with him throughout his life. He graduated from the St. Mark’s School of Texas, where he made lifelong friends and discovered the joys of intellectual engagement and the opportunities afforded by education. He went on to earn degrees from Union College and the University of Texas School of Law.
Stuart clerked in San Francisco during the Summer of Love and soon after began his career as an attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. Returning to Dallas, Stuart joined Eldridge, Goggins, and Weiss before co-founding and practicing with several firms over the years, including Klein Morse; Kroney, Silverman, Mincey; and Kroney Morse Lan. He was known among colleagues and clients alike for his caring nature, wise counsel, integrity, and dry sense of humor.
Stuart was deeply committed to the Dallas Jewish community. He served on the boards of Temple Emanu-El, the Jewish Community Center, Community Homes for Adults, Inc. (CHAI), and Golden Acres/The Legacy, giving generously of his time and counsel.
At law school, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Davis, and together they built a life full of family, travel, and friendship. Stuart was the proud father of Shannon Morse and her husband, Daniel Clifford, and Jed Morse and his wife, Margaret; and the adoring grandfather of Will and Josie Clifford and Sam and Meg Morse.
A memorial service will be held in Stern Chapel at Temple Emanu-El, Dallas, Monday, November 10 at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Mark’s School of Texas, Community Homes for Adults, Inc., or a charity of your choice in honor of his lifelong dedication to community and service.
