Sue worked at Sears in Dallas for 35 years retiring in 1992. She grew up on a farm picking and hoeing corn and cotton and canning vegetables. She was proud to be called a “country girl”! Sue married Joe Smock on January 5, 1952, and they spent most of their married life in DeSoto, Texas, where they were very active members of the DeSoto Assembly of God Church. Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. Sue gave her heart to the Lord in 1955 and served Him faithfully for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting and sharing her handmade potholders with friends and family. Her beautiful peonies live on in the gardens of her children and grandchildren!
Sue is survived by her son, Jody Smock and daughter-in-law, Shannon Smock; daughter, Sharon Hanks and son-in-law, Troy Hanks; granddaughter, Kelly Cardwell and husband, Aaron Cardwell; grandson, Sean Smock and wife Caroline Smock; great-grandchildren Ava Cardwell, Hudson Cardwell, Campbell Cardwell, Holden Smock and Cooper Smock; honorary granddaughter, Rosita Rosenberger and husband Jason Rosenberger, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Joe Smock, parents Sam and Lelia Clark, siblings Sam Clark, Helen Blanton, Bill Clark and Betty Crum; nephew Fred Blanton, and nieces Jean Shumate and Mary Stowe.
