

Tanya Lynette Jones was born on August 4, 1961 at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, TX and grew up in New Boston, TX. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in a creek at Arkadelphia Baptist Church. She was a former member of New Mt Hebron Baptist Church in Garland, TX where she sang in the choir.
Tanya was a 1979 graduate of New Boston High School. After high school, she attended Wiley College in Marshall, TX where she majored in Hotel & Restaurant Management. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. She was long time employee of Dallas County Health and Human Services- HOPWA division.
She was known of her outgoing and feisty personality. She loved shopping and working in her yard. She never cared anything about cooking and her saying was “if you need a tree chopped down, call me” Her true loves were her children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Christene Dedmon, grandmother, Lola Dedmon and special aunt, Ruthie Lee Dedmon.
Those remembering Tanya with love, her father, Johnny Hooks, Dallas, TX; daughters, DeTorsha Brunson, Cedar Hill, TX and Trinika Jones, Los Angeles, CA; sons, Edwin Jones, Cedar Hill, TX and Jaylend Jones, Los Angeles, CA; brothers, Rickey Fisher, New Boston, TX and Kevin Dedmon, Dallas, TX; sisters, Jacqueline Fisher, Baltimore, MD and Michelle Fisher, Grand Prairie, TX; one uncle, Alton Green (Sheila), Dallas, TX and one aunt, Linda Dedmon, Denton, TX. Tanya also leaves to cherish her memories, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
