I met Ted after he returned home from serving in WWII. He was Ferndale Clifford’s high school boy friend. Ferndale was from Grand Saline, I was from Wills Point. We left our small towns after high school graduation to seek jobs in the big city. This was 1943 - an exciting time to be alive and well in Dallas during those war years. Ferndale was the cute and vivacious one - I was the tall skinney awkward one. Ferndale had many boyfriends pursuing her but when Ted came back home to Terrell after winning the war he found Ferndale and, as the story goes, they lived happily ever after. A wonderful friend Ferndale has been all these years (78)! And Ted has accepted me too (I think). Ferndale and I will miss him greatly!!

Rest easy, Papa. You did everything right. You built a solid foundation for this family and we will carry it on. I have always been so proud to be your first grandkid and the first boy in your lineage. I hope I made you proud too. I am so lucky to have had 51 years with my Papa in my life. I love you and will think of you every day. Gig 'em, Papa!

Ted will be missed. I enjoyed being with Ted at work and when we went fishing. He was a great manufacturing person. I learned a great deal from him and was very grateful for his friendship. May he RIP.
