Tempia Maxine Harris was born on January 2, 1926 to the late Ezell and Minerva Inglemon in Honey Grove, Texas (the sweetest little town in Texas). She passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017 at 4:14pm at the Town East Rehab. and Healthcare Center in Mesquite, Texas. Tempia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She graduated from Brally High School in Honey Grove, Texas in 1947 before she met and married Etheridge Harris. Tempia moved to Dallas after her husband went to the Army. She joined Griggs Chapel Baptist Church under the pastoral care of the late H. D. Webb, Sr., where she faithfully served on Usher Board#1 and other auxiliaries. She enjoyed cooking, travelling, attending church and social functions, and spending time with family and friends. Tempia was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. She worked full-time for 1st National Bank, and part-time for Baylor School of Dentistry for many years until she retired in 1991. Tempia is preceded by her husband; her step-mother, Maggie Roberts; her god-mother, Abbie Stephens; her god-sisters: Mary Loud (Nan), Belle Turner, and Venola Jackson. Her memory will be cherished by her god-children, great-niece, relatives and friends. A special thank you to: Dr. Sharon Larkin, Mrs. Catherine, Sophya Milas, Town East Rehabilitation & Health Center, and Heart to Heart Hospice for all the compassion and care she received.
