Teresa Lois Kessner Solomon passed away peacefully Saturday evening, April 13, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Dallas on May 16, 1929, Teresa was the daughter of Joe and Shirley Stolar Kessner.
Teresa graduated from Forest Avenue High School, and 64 years ago she married Barnett “Barry” Solomon, the love of her life. Teresa and Barry are lifelong Dallas residents who have lived the last 5 years at The Legacy at Willow Bend, where they have enjoyed the friendship of their many neighbors.
For several years Teresa volunteered in the recovery room at Children’s Medical Center, caring for the children of others as if they were her own. She also enjoyed singing with the Dallas chapter of Sweet Adelines in the early 1960s.
Teresa’s greatest joy was sharing family celebrations, traveling the world, and taking summer cruises with Barry, her children, and her grandchildren. Family was Teresa’s life.
Teresa is survived by her husband Barry; her sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Lawrence Solomon; her children Carol and Larry Goldberg, Lori Ann Solomon (who predeceased her), David and Susan Solomon, and Scott and Tracey Solomon; her grandchildren Zach and Melissa Goldberg, Amanda Goldberg, Rebecca and Edmund Snyder, Drew and Lauren Solomon (Dublin, Ireland), Blake Solomon (New York City), Beth Solomon, Danny Solomon, and Riley Trevino; her precious great-grandson Tyce Barnett Goldberg; and her nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Congregation Shearith Israel Cemetery, 4634 Dolphin Road. In lieu of flowers, Teresa’s family suggests memorial contributions to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or the charity of your choice.
