Thomas Robert Armstrong Jr.

Thomas R Armstrong Jr was born in Glen Ridge NJ on February 8, 1955, and passed away on August 21, 2026, in Dallas, TX.

Tom graduated from Richardson High School with honors in 1973 and from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, in 1977.

Tom began working at Sanger Harris while he was in college and began his career in the company’s management program upon graduation. In 1982, he served as Assistant Store Director at Valley View Mall. In 1984, he became VP/Store Director of Sanger Harris in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

From 1986 to 2007, Tom served as VP/Store Director at various Foley’s stores in Dallas. He was the VP/ Store Director of Foley’s when it opened at NorthPark Mall in 2000. He retired as /VP/Store Director of Macy’s NorthPark in 2007.

After retiring, Tom rediscovered a childhood passion of designing homes. He began buying, remodeling, and selling homes, primarily in West Highland Park for over 10 years. After his career in home remodeling, he became a realtor and retired in 2020.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Robert Armstrong Sr. and Deane R. Armstrong.

Tom was creative, hardworking, and exceptionally kind and generous. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his brother, John H. Armstrong, and his wife, Paula Peters; his sister, Megan Sparks, and her husband, Allen B. Sparks Jr.; his nephew, Connor B. Sparks, and his wife, Laura Lee Sparks, and their children, Charlotte and Henry; his nephew, Luke T. Sparks; and his niece, Hallie Oliver, and her husband, Q. Oliver, and their son, Wes.

Also, Tom’s beloved dog Zak, who was his companion and gave him great comfort.

Tom’s family is deeply grateful to his caregivers, Jacqueline Wright, Thea Arnold, Margie Bailey, Stephanie Goff, and Victoria Grayson—who provided loving care and became dear friends to Tom and his family.

A Reception Celebrating Tom’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 11:30 am at The Mercury, located at the northwest corner of Preston Road and Forest Lane.
