Thomas McLean Blackwell

Thomas McLean Blackwell, 65, (Oct. 20, 1954 - May 14, 2020) was predeceased by his parents TJ and Virginia Blackwell. He was a lifelong resident of University Park and a 1977 graduate of UT Austin. Tom was passionately active in both local and national politics, and dedicated himself to fighting injustices as a Precinct Chair of the Dallas County Democratic Party (DCDP) and had also served as an elected member of the Democratic National Convention Platform Committee. He was an avid Amateur radio enthusiast (N5GAR) and served as North Texas Section Leader with the ARRL for several years. Tom was an active member in NTPCUG for many years and even ran a dialup Bulletin Board Service (BBS) before the internet. He embraced new technologies, loved technology and made attending CES while it was still called COMDEX using his coveted press pass an annual event. Tom was one of a kind and will be truly missed by friends and family. Graveside services will be June 19, 2020, at 10AM at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home.
