Thomas Troy Jennings Jr. was born on December 6, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri. He lost his battle with atypical parkinsonism on May 14, 2020 in Carrollton, Texas. Tom graduated from Forest Avenue High in 1953, and was a SMU alumnus of 1961. He was a member of the National Guard, 49th Armored Division from 1953-61. He retired from Enserch Oil & Gas after 35 years, and he worked part time for the Dallas Morning News for many years. Tom went on to start his own business in 1997, Home Savers USA. He continued to help people in foreclosure save their homes into his 80s. Tom’s ever-present role was that of an adoring father and grandfather. He was his kids’ #1 fan, and he would do anything to support them. He was also Coach Tom for his kids’ soccer and baseball teams for many years. Tom was a man of faith and was a deacon of his church, East Dallas Christian Church, where he leaves behind many friends. Tom loved all sports. He loved to play golf, and would never miss a Cowboys or Rangers game. He loved camping, watching movies, and visiting the beach. Tom was an optimist. He had a way with words, a love for animals, and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He will be missed by so many. Tom is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Jennings, his mother, Violet Jennings, his sister, Marie Tapscott, and his sons, Brent and Cody. Tom is survived by the mother of his children, Cindy Melis, his sons, Brandon and Brett Jennings, and his daughter, Amber Stiller. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, William, Nathaniel, Harper, Connor, Wesley, Devin, and Reese Jennings, and Violet Stiller.
