Thomas Wayne Lewis Sr. Dallas – Thomas (Tom) Wayne Lewis Sr, 69, of Dallas, died Wednesday, September 12, 2017. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held Wednesday, September 20th 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon visitation, service 12:00 noon, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6000 R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas. Tom was born on July 7th, 1948, in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, to parents Walt & Verley Lewis. Tom was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, family member, Christian and friend. Tom was an entrepreneur and a trail blazer. When he saw a need in the community he moved quickly to help fulfill it. Tom loved all animals, his love of animals inspired him to open up a Pet Store. Over the years he owned 13 stores throughout the DFW metroplex. Wonderland Pet Center on Jefferson Boulevard in Oak Cliff was the largest and is still operating today. In the early 90’s Tom moved onto his next endeavor a newspaper & shopper called Metro-Ad-Venture. It was the early days of desk top publishing and advertising for small businesses in the community. Tom also loved antiques. He had a few small stores in Dallas, Grand Prairie and Fort Worth. Any business Tom had, no matter the type, he had an area for his recently acquired antiques. In the last 10 years, Tom enjoyed spending his retirement antiquing, garage selling and playing cards. Tom was a gentle, kind and fun loving man who loved his God, his family and friends and he will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Lewis, Thomas Wayne, Sr, preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Sue Lewis, son, Thomas Wayne Lewis Jr.; survived by daughter Tonya Lewis Grandmaiter & family, James William Lewis & family, Tambera (Tami) Sue Lewis & family, son Tobias (Toby) & family, 10 Grandchildren, 1 Great Granddaughter & a very special friend, MaryJane DeSalvo. The funeral will be Wednesday, September 20th, visitation from 11:00 – 12:00, service will be at 12:00 noon at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6000 South R. L Thornton Frwy., Dallas, Texas. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery.
