Thomas was a truck driver for 18 years, over 10 years of which he was a heavy hauler. He loved his work and became family at his current job at Lindamood, where he had been for 8 and a half years. He was a mentor to a lot of young drivers and a friend to everyone he met. Fishing was his hobby, and he loved relaxing in his boat and fishing the day away. When he wasn’t fishing, he loved spending time with his grandkids. They would climb all over him, and he ate it up. When he was hanging out with his buddies, he was always so happy. His ‘66 chevy drew many garage hours with him fixing that old beast up with his huge tool collection. Thomas and Vickie enjoyed many years, with one of their favorite pastimes of eating at the steakhouse and watching whichever blockbuster movie graced the screen that week. Thomas loved his children deeply. He cared so much about all his family and visited them in Ohio and Georgia when he could.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Wimberley Cook; brother, Paul McDonald. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Vickie Pitts; children Thomas Pitts Jr, Mary Pitts; step-children Elizabeth Shirey (Eric), Joe Morales (Kassie), Rebecca Pinola; step-grandchildren Everett, Ephraim, Ellie, Joe, CJ, Kylie, Christian, Malia, Felicity, Phoebe, Eric, Joy, Finn, Oscar; parents Deborah Cook, Dennis Pitts; siblings Dennis Pitts Jr (Anitra), Richard McDonald (Angie), Malisha Lawson; best friend Elias Torrez; and beloved pet Paco.
