

Thomas Gerald Romine, also known as Jere, born June 4, 1930, in Enid, Oklahoma. He died peacefully May 4, 2025, at home in Dallas, Texas with his loving wife, two daughters, and grandson at his side, after receiving last rites from Fr. Guadagnoli. Jere was husband to Mary Agnes "Aggie" Romine for 69 1/2 years. He had one brother, Charles Gordon "Sonny" Romine, recently deceased; they were two peas in a pod. Jere died on his brother's birthday. Jere is survived by his loving wife. Together they had four children: Roseanne, Michelle & Theodore, he is predeceased by his oldest son, Tom Romine; with grandchildren, Thomas (Trey) Romine III, Magenta, Cyan and Heliotrope Vaughn; great-granddaughter, Nova Vaughn; and great-grandson, Orin Stewart.
He attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) where he received his bachelor's in accounting before entering the Army as an officer, and was honorably discharged in 1954. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Aggie Romine. And so began a wonderful era for the Romine family.
After graduating from the master's program at Oklahoma University, he began his career in public accounting with the national accounting firm, Earnst & Earnst and was licensed as a CPA shortly after in 1957. He served as Chief Financial Officer for Erwin Steel Company, before returning to Public Accounting. His love for tax planning and helping others is carried on by his grandson, Cyan Vaughn. In 2022, after 65 years licensed as a CPA, Jere was thrilled to present Cyan with his License.
Jere and Aggie raised their children in several cities in Texas- San Antonio, Richardson, and Dallas-while ensuring that their faith remained central to their lives and their involvement in the community. The Romine's joined The St. Monica parish in 1972, his dedication to the church and service to the community was integral to their family life and values over the next 53 years. He attended daily mass at 6:45 am, served as Treasurer and President of The Serra Club of Metropolitan Dallas, served in the Knights of Columbus, St. Monica School Board and Dad's Club, and Ursuline Academy Board and Dad's Club.
Jere led a very active life, he loved basketball, running and tennis. Jere played tennis well into his late eighties and stayed active at the gym even into his mid-nineties.
The Rosary and Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, May 14, at at Sparkman/Hillcrest in Dallas. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11am on Thursday, May 15, at St. Monica Catholic Church (Rosary beforehand at 10:30). Reception will follow directly after mass in the St. Monica Family Center. Later, burial will follow at Sparkman Hillcrest to commence at 2pm.
