Thomas Wayne Sorrells

Tom of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024 at age 88.

Tom was born in Dallas, Texas on March 13, 1936, to Tom and Frances Sorrells. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and continued to receive a BS in Engineering from Texas Tech University. Tom married Grace Alexander on December 28, 1959 and they were married 55 years. Tom was a Captain in the Air Force. Tom and Grace lived many places in the early days of their marriage; McAllen Texas, Rantoul Illinois, and RAF Lakenheath England. After honorable discharge, they came back to Dallas Texas to be surrounded by family and to raise their daughters. Tom was a dedicated husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a gentle soul and had a sharp sense of humor.

Tom worked as a data processing manager for Northrop Grumman for 34 years. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, watching his Dallas Cowboys play, barbequing, feeding the birds, walks, Siberian Huskies, and woodworking, He was also actively involved in Highland Park United Methodist Church, Feed My Starving Children, Neighborhood Crime Watch, Meals on Wheels, and Scottish Rite for Children.

Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Grace and his parents, Tom and Frances Sorrells.

Tom is survived by his children Betty of Washington DC, Frannie of Frisco Texas, and Ellen (Mark) of Keller Texas. He is survived by his precious grandchildren Andrew (Cali), Jackie, Stephen, Alec, Maddi, and Michael. He is survived by his sister Martha Allen (Reg) of Coppell, sister Marianne Hudspeth of Dallas, and brother-in-law Jim Alexander (Lori) of Fort Worth. He is also survived by precious nieces and nephews across the United States.

A private grave side service will be held at Grove Hill Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his true love, Grace.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to Feed my Starving Children, Meals on Wheels, or Scottish Rite for Children.
