Thomas Fredrick Stetka, 72, passed from this life and went to be with God eternally on June 26, 2018. Born on August 1, 1945, to Thomas Woodrow and Catherine Torre Stetka, Tom was a beloved husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Lauren Huddleston. Tom earned his engineering degree from the University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut. After graduation he worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for 34 years, leading inspections of nuclear power plants, and retired in 2008. His love of boating brought him to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he remained an active member for several decades. Tom was also a member of the Fort Worth Sail and Power Squadron, where he served for more than 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Rohde; his stepson, Charles Townsend, and his wife, Mandy; his stepdaughter, Melissa Stephens and her husband, Richard; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Brockway and her husband, Blake; and his sister, Cathy Dauch. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, six nieces and nephews, 15 grandnieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Matey. A memorial service to celebrate Tom’s life will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of McKinney. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Highland Park Education Foundation/Lauren Christine Huddleston Scholarship Fund.
