Thomas Berton Woolum, Sr., 93, of Dallas passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Baylor Hospital. Bert will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew and loved him.
He was born in Silsbee, TX on December 9, 1921 to Charles Walter and Laura Swindall Woolum. He attended Texas A&M University, interrupting his education to serve in WWII with the U.S. Army Infantry in Central Europe. Upon graduation, he worked as a manufacturer’s representative for men's and boys' apparel.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Sammie Yates Woolum of Dallas, TX; daughter Susan and her husband Mark Ginsberg of Silver Spring, MD; son Tom and his wife Diana of Dallas; grandchildren Emily (Jeremy) Thomas, Peter Ginsberg, and Evan and Logan Slaughter.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bert's name to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, or to University Park United Methodist Church of Dallas.
