Ret. DPD Thurman Adolphus Ross, Sr.

A visitation hour for Thurman will be held Monday, July 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 1, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232. A committal service will occur Monday, July 1, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232.

Thurman was born in Tyler, Tx. on August 10, 1932, to Lawrence Whitner Ross Sr. and Etta Petty Ross.

He grew up and lived most of his life in Dallas and the surrounding area. After graduating from Crozier Tech High School in 1950, he then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He later joined the Dallas Police Department in 1956 where he retired after 31 years of dedicated service.

Thurman is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lucille Tolin, brother Lawrence Whitner Ross Jr. Wife Jean Ross, and stepson Chris McConnell.

He is survived by his wife Karen Strawn Ross, his two sons Thurman Ross, Jr. and Larry Ross and wife Marci, and stepson John Alagood, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
